"who shall seek an asylum or shall be found within the

"territories of the other. An offence committed in

"Japan by a British subject is not committed within the

"jurisdiction of Great Britain within the meaning of the

"Treaty".

It may be observed that subsequently to the date

of this correspondence, embezzlement was one of the

extradition crimes added in the Treaty between this

Country and the United States of America of July 12th,

1889.
